SCTV- Angie Dickinson for Fancy Free Undershields
I only recently have started watching some SCTV, and this is a highlight from what I’ve seen so far. I think that this is a great case of a simple, even easy idea put into a place that makes it it more original. Other than the fact that Angie Dickinson did commercials, there’s really no reason for this to be a commercial parody; the beating in the background could just as well take place while Angie and her director talk about something in the foreground, or Angie could be on the phone with her agent while her double gets pummeled. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be Angie Dickinson in this sketch, but could be a generic actress. But the meeting of the game (a female extra gets beat up in the background) with the odd set up (an Angie Dickinson commercial) puts it in a place of its own.
Old school.
